2016 has truly been a year of challenge and growth. Between events in the world and personal highs and lows I'm thankful for the year and also glad to see this chapter close.
During the new year it's often a time that people reset recharge and restore, fitness challenges begin, diets are started and the long list of goals begin. In effort to defeat the infamous unsuccessful resolution plague, I'm instead aligning my life and goals to 4 simple words:
POWER. FOCUS. BREATH. CHOICE.
Power-I commit to have physical, mental and spiritual endurance through the challenges that I face in the future, whether at work, on my yoga mat or in the marathon of a magical marriage, I commit to having the power and endurance to push through and overcome.
Focus-we are inundated with information from every possible angle. Music, commercials, social media, family and friends. There is always something to take our thoughts away from living in the moment. Through my commitment of focus I will honor my mind and allow it to concentrate and focus on the item at hand with 100% brain power, gifting myself and those around me with the best results of my time and efforts.
Breath- silence. time. Peace. Three words that aren't typically used to describe the life of a mom, wife or business leader. I truly believe that we are all vessels to be used to achieve greatness, however when that vessel is empty we are unable to produce quality. I therefore commit to take time to focus on my breath, if that be finding time for me and my yoga mat, taking time to savor my tea in the morning or just go to sleep at 6pm when I need to. I will provide my vessel with a recharge of breath to refuel and energize.
Choice- with my arsenal occupied with three quality attributes to guide my 2017, finding my last one was a challenge, but it instead chose me. Whether you're deciding between ice cream or fruit salad, or choosing to end or rebuild a relationship, the power of choice has a rippling effect. A person sets the precedent for the next three moves with each decisions they make. We often feel that we have no choice and too many things are on our plate. So, in 2017 commit to choose for me.
Whether it be the power of mind over body or spirit over mind, the strength of choice, the willingness to focus or the time you take a breath, I wish you all blessings and love in your journey through 2017. May your transformation be beautiful and life changing.
