Often times when we envision creation and manifestation we identify a cyclical experience of thought, conception, challenges, and fruition. Childbirth contains many of the same components. When I had my first birth I was excited but afraid, carrying nervousness and anxiety along the way. My sweet baby Joy delivered healthy and happy and the team at the hospital was great, however through my 2017 journey of power, strength and choice, I knew that I wanted to be more hands on with the way I brought life into the earth, by creating a more empowered birthing experience, which led me to have a homebirth. Jo and I had an inkling I was pregnant early on in the pregnancy after returning from Germany. We confirmed we were expecting in late February and were so excited, although we weren't trying, our ideal child spacing stayed as we projected all kids 3 years apart. As I was filled with excitement carrying new life in my womb, I began to envision what steps needed to be taken along this 7 month journey. I searched and searched and finally found a midwife. Our first meeting was great, she made me feel so at ease and we shared so many connections; one being she spent a lot of time in Jamaica which is where my husband's family is from. Although I was already eating pretty clean, she said something that resonated with me was about nutrition like never before . She changed my perspective about intake by stating that everyday, the food I eat is taking part in creating every eye lash, limb and fingernail for my baby. Simple but profound, I have never looked at my prenatal nutrition in that way before and was thankful for her nuggets of knowledge. As it applies to all nutrition, what we consume helps create the thoughts we have, the skin we live in, and the emotions we feel. After that day I really hunkered down on eating and meal prepping. For my 27th birthday I decided to go whole foods vegetarian and I felt such a shift in my energy and body. "Let thy food be thy medicine, and thy medicine thy food"-Hippocrates
